And Then There Were Three

Well folks. The time has come to really do this blogging thing. Brian has told me from day 1, "Em, you gotta have something to blog about-like a kid and we just don"t have one." So, I guess the news now is...... drum roll please.... I am preggers! Most of you already know this already. I vow to keep family near and far up-to-date on my progress. So off we go!
FYI-it has been so long since I touched this thing that I had to recover my password and read the directions on how to get a new background! So be patient with me. That took 1 hour. Next is remembering how to do pictures.
Enjoy!

Who Wants A Shot? An ode to the ER...

Yes, a shot. No. Not of alcohol. An allergy shot! I have officially started my new RN job at an allergy shot clinic. I have to say, it is really nice to care for patients that smell good for once! To my fellow ER/Trauma nurses out there-you know what I mean! Yes, in some twisted way, I know I will miss the puking drunks who stab each other, the patient who crashed their car while being chased by the police for what? Yes you guessed it-drugs-where they often try to "hide" it in certain body orifices (please, insert your imagination here). Yum! :) Then there is the well dressed man with a hangnail-literally-crying and carrying on and wanting narcotic pain meds. Yes, I did say man, as most of us nurses know, they tend to be BIG babies when it comes to pain. Sorry, but it is studied AND true. Oh, and one of my favorite patients-some one who is completely tatted out (full of tattoos) and jumping off the bed claiming to be afraid of needles. What?! I am not sure I will ever understand that. So you will go and get multiple hours worth of "art" on your body, placed by needles, but when you need an injection for let's say antibiotics, oh no, not a chance. I know 3 year olds who take shots better! Seriously! Oh how I could go on and on with stories, but I will spare you. Besides, most of you have already heard them!
All this said, I am liking my new job-Monday-Friday. I am a real working person (some one who works weekdays only) now. Plus! Free parking (OHSU was $10/day)! If I ever start to feel like I might miss the ER, I'll just call some gals I know who remain in the ER and ask just how they week went and then I will forget I ever missed it!
By the way if any of you need allergy shots or want to be tested for allergies, food or environment, I know some great physicians!
